The threat of rain turned into a fine, but a bit windy day with plenty of run on the course. Where is that rain ??
It was a stableford round, 1st round of the Presidents Trophy and there were many fine scores today. John Ball made a welcome return to the winners circle in A Grade with a solid 41, even allowing for his failure to score on his favourite hole, the 5th. Out of bounds perhaps with the drive ??, yet again ?? Les Grafton was 2nd with 40 points off his 12 handicap and Russell Grigg 3rd with 39.
B Grade saw Rabbit romp it in with 44 points, a loss of 2 off his handicap, as well as another meat tray. Highlight would have to be a 4 for 5 on the par 5 13th which was head-wind. Michael Davies and Hans Linford both with 40 points took the minor placings. C Grade was another high scoring affair with Tim Clifton winning with 45 points from James Weir with 42 and Ian Telfer with 40 points.
There were 2 matchplays today. Paul Shields defeated Bingo Barns 3 up, and Hans Linford defeated Ian Clark 6/4.
Next week sees a stroke round, monthly medal, and Bob Oxlade Trophy.
