The 2013 Match Play draw continued today with two matches with Paul Shields defeating Stuart Grigg 6/4 and Steven Kelly defeating Hans Linford 6/4 settling up a final berth for the 2013 Match Play Trophy to play the winners of top half of the draw which will prove interesting with two rounds to be played and a mixture of local talent attempting to make the final. Good Golfing to all.
Today saw wet, windy conditions however the course looked great. Still glowing from last Sundays Men’s Open and the Ladies Open yesterday. Well done to Bobby Hogg and those members who assisted in the preparation for both opens.
A small field of 16 players today braved the forecasted wet conditions and as it was the third round of the Captains Trophy it was a hard slog by any means of the imagination. L. Grafton +4 winning A Grade with G. Giannakos +2 and Yogi Frencken +1 taking the minor placing. B and C Grades were combined due to small numbers and Steve Kelly winning with +1 from Paul Shields 0 and Jim Weir taking the count back from good mate and playing partner Chris Barker. Hans Linford was successfully picking up a ball for NAGA.
Next week is the replay of the Hamley Bridge Challenge (at home) so Two Wells is tasked with retaining it on home soil. The hit off will be from 1100 hours to 1200 hours with a BBQ dinner after the game. Members are asked to assist in the BBQ on the completion of the round.
