Well, Captain Paul Shields talked the talk and then walked the walk (but he actually rode in the Popemobile) with his team of Chris Girling, Doug Burford and Darryl Hall taking out the Ambrose with a very nice 61/53 which included an eagle, 8 birdies and 1 bogy. He had been forecasting on facebook that his team was the one to watch. Second team of Gemma Connors, Jake Bowden and Adam Bail was probably pre match favourite for the NAGA with their recent form but performed beautifully to get 69/56 5/6. Third on the day were Bobby Hogg, Les Grafton, Yogi Frencken and Kathy Stubing with 65/57 3/8 because 4th team Gary Payne, Michael Davies, Andrew Baker and Danny Smith couldn't add up and put 68/58 when it should have been 67/57. More season debuts today with Tim Clifton making a welcome return and Thommo actually completing a full round and scoring an NTP on hole 1.
Next week is Stroke and Monthly Medal and the Bob Oxlade trophy up for grabs followed the week after by our annual trip to Hamley Bridge to show them how to play stableford.
