Competition: Par - Captains's Trophy 4
No of Players: 26 Conditions: Fine
Last round of the Captains's Trophy and the course was very hard with lots of run. We had 26 players out which was excellent with only 7 scoring in the plus.
A Grade saw Jake Bowden narrowly defeat John Ball on a countback and B Grade winner was Michael Dimasi with 4 up from James Weir and Gary Payne 2 up.
The Captain's Trophy was nearly in the bag for Michael Davies and his 7 up over best 3 of 4 rounds proved too much for James Weir and Jake Bowdens' 6 up, but it was closer than everyone thought it would be. Michael has taken a liking to Par Comp with his last 7 rounds of Par all being plus.
Russell Grigg, who blitzed Blyth last Sunday at the Mid North Group Open with 80/65 for 43 points to take out B Grade and Vets, thumped back to earth to hold up the bottom of A Grade with 6 down, a reality check that shows how fickle golf can be.
Next week is a return to stableford and the Handicap Matchplay Final between Ian Clark and Yogi Frencken.
