Competition: Club Championships Rd 3

The 3rd Round of the Club Championships were played with 18 players (16 + 2
Ladies) fronting up despite the prospect of bad weather coming. The course
again with the recent rains proved to be the winner and despite the strong
winds the course only suffered minor losses with 3 trees down. The course
was heavy under foot and the fairways tough with some balls plugging as they
landed. The scrapes testing many with the average 25.6 putts. 132 - 2 Putts
and 16 - 3 putts of course the scrapes pulled many approaches up as they
landed on them.

With the Toro still not back from maintenance resulted in some fairways not
being cut low the players accepted the conditions as they were the same for
all of us. A thank you to both Gary Payne and John Mills who continued to
work hard during the week to prepare the course despite the weather
conditions their work noticeable with course holding up with despite the wet conditions.

On behalf of the Two Wells Golf Club Past and Present members Captain Paul
Shields thanked Ray and Lorraine Prior for the continued support over the
past 20 years with their Sponsorship from Virginia Meat Store. The weekly
meat trays always a pivotal point of the daily presentations over the years
with much banter as the draws were announced. I was fortunate to win one of
the last meat trays last week and have enjoyed many over the years sharing
with my family of course.

A Grade: Stuart Grigg 80/69, John Ball 2nd 87/70 and Paul Shields 3rd 88/72, A. Christou 73, R. Hogg 74, A. Baker 80 Nett.

B Grade: Hans Linford 93/70, Adam Bail 2nd 90/71 and Ray Prior 3rd with
99/73, I. Smith 74, S. Kelly 77, J. Weir 79, I. Clark 101, G. Payne 84, C.
Barker 84 and D. Smith 90 Nett.

Ladies: K. Stubing 66 and L. Brookes 72 Nett.

The 2016 Club Championships gross results after 3 rounds are;

A Grade: S. Grigg 244, R. Hogg 262, J. Ball 268, P Shields 278 and A. Baker
284.

B Grade: A. Bail 273, A. Christou 279, I. Clark 292, J. Weir 292, S. Kelly
293 and C. Barker 295.

Veterans: After the 3 rounds with the worst round dropped J. Ball leading
140, R. Hogg 144 and P. Shields 147. The final round will prove interesting
to determine the winner. With the 5th, 12th and 13th holes proving to be
pivotal in the outcome.

Putting Championship: A. Bail leading with 74 putts with several players
close behind within striking distance. The top 3 in each grade will be
required to play together for the final round.

As I mentioned last week July is the OPEN and the TWO WELLS Open is on the
24 Jul 16. I ask all members to try to commit to support the Open Day and
encourage others to attend the Two Wells Open. They are great days and all
clubs need the support each year. A reminder that the Barossa Valley
Adelaide Plains Vets are playing at Two Wells on the Thursday 14 Jul 16.
Members are encouraged to come out and help Gary prepare the course.
